You might try moving the banner and navbar in your blog to be before

Still stuck! And embarassed!
Ok... I am so confused... I am trying to get my galleries on my navbar in my blog to hook up with my smugmug.. if I change it to a small g .. does that mean my navbar will have lowercase...? I like upper case on my navbar if possible... probably dumb question... and it still isn't linking to my galleries page on smugmug....

My next thing is when people log into my smugmug site...I want the blog to be the "home" page or first page they see... I know there is a simple solution but my mind is getting boggled ....

thanks for your help . . .

Sorry, my bad. It was a cut and paste error. Change the entry in your blog to this:
The entry on your navbar can show whatever you'd like to the public. It's the underlyiing URL that needs to point to /galleries (because that's what your CSS says).

Your blog is not a smugmug site.
It cannot be the homepage for your smugmug site.

Ok. .almost done
Ok... a couple of things I would like to do...

1) enlarge size of letters on navbar and possibly move up a little right under banner?
2) Remove banner from Pricing page and then see #3
3) Add logo that is used on Blog page to be header for all other pages (make sense)?

Thanks for everything... and anything else you might suggest...

You can enlarge the letters on the navbar by adding a font-size parameter to your navbar entries. For example:
Code:
#navcontainer {
    font-size: 25px;
}
Your banner image is 750px x 150px but in your CSS you defined it as 750px x 250px. Correct your CSS to use the correct amount of space and the navbar will move up.

Your other questions are about your smugmug site, not your blog. Please post them in a separate thread. To avoid confusing other readers of this thread, I believe the thread should remain focused on changes to blogs to match smug sites, not to general questions.

Hi Denise,

I have a couple more questions.

First, the suggestion you gave me about the navbar worked. The only thing I can see now is that there is a slight jump in the navbar when going from the blog to smugmug and back.

Second, I've been trying to change the size of the "posted by" and "labels" at the bottom of the posts. I think that section is called the post-footer but when I change the percentage nothing happens. I can't seem to figure out how to change the size. I'd like it to be slightly smaller.

Any suggestions on the first issue and can you help on the second one?

I don't have any suggestions on the slight jump right now. I'll try to find some time to look at it later.

On the post footer question, go to the layout tab in your blog, click on Fonts and colors. Then scroll down in the list until you see Post Footer Font. Adjust the font and size by changing the selections on the right.

Thanks Denise,

Okay, I went and tried making the font smaller and nothing happened. When I tried making it larger it worked. I tried the smaller again and it took it back down but to the same size it was before. When I look in webdev at the .post-footer this is what I have now. The percentage was 78% and now it's 42% and visually the size didn't change. I cleared cache and still nothing.

.post-footer {
margin: 2.0em 0;
text-transform:uppercase;
color:#cccccc;
letter-spacing:.1em;
font: normal normal 42% arial, sans-serif;
line-height: 1.3em;
}

In Firefox I let the pages choose the font and font size.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I've given you the only suggestion that I have.

By the way, I looked at your blog in both IE7 and in Firefox. The post footer is definitely smaller. In fact, it's so small that I can't read it. Can you try it in a different browser? Or make sure that you've cleared everything from your cache?

I'll try a different browser, clear cache again and see what happens. Thanks for trying.

******* I THINK I figured the "posted by" font thing out. The minimum font size in Firefox got changed from "none" to 13. Doing some checking to see if that's really it.

Edit: Okay I got the font problem solved. At least it seems to be.

I do have one more question. On IE SmugMug and blogger don't match but on FF they do. Do you know of a way to fix that?

Quick update - check out my site. I think I'm switching colors back. Did you hate the original site? The trial version is not all the way there. Was just testing the waters. Had maroon instead of yellow, but it was harder to read.

Carol -
I wasn't especially fond of the yellow, but I don't particularly like the black. (Kind of you to leave your blog as is for now - it was a good comparison!) I'm one of those apparently odd people who prefers photos against a light background. I know that it seems like most people think that black is a better showcase for photos, but I don't agree. Interesting that I had a conversation about this with a friend from the UK a long time ago. She also prefers lighter backgrounds and indicated that more photographers on her side of the water used lighter backgrounds.

I wouldn't think that maroon would be a good background color either. As I said, I'm in the light background camp. Have you tried a more subtle shade of yellow? Maybe looking at a bunch of colors together would help with the decision. Here's a link to the color codes page that I use - http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html.

More comments added later after a little more thought:
You've clearly been swayed by what appears to be the majority here on the background color of your site.

I happen to agree with you that light backgrounds are good for photographs, and I know others who share that opinion. Black is what appears to be used most of the time if you wander through sites linked from folks signature here; it's OK to be different.

As you've probably seen, my site background is light. My friend Caroline's background is light - http://www.carolineshipsey.co.uk/. And take a look at this site which has wonderful design elements and a light background - http://www.chrishumphreys.net/.

How funny! I've actually seen both those sites before. Thank you for your response. I felt more bulldozed than swayed :) lol.

I do lioke how the pictures show up with the black, but also really like my original site. It was MINE. I hadn't changed all the galleries yet because, like I was saying, I didn't want to have a huge chore if I decided to go back. I'll play around with the lighter yellow and see wehre it gets me.
BTW, that color chart you linked, I've been there before. Funny that all three of my original colors are on the same swatch! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for being there for all of us!

photo border in blog
Denise,
I'm looking for a way to add some definition around my blog photos. (www.bethsingley.blogspot.com) However, I don't know enough about CSS to make this happen. I'm not looking for crazy awesome. I'd like to define each image kind of like this blog...http://www.tracyturpenblog.com/?p=6626.
I'd want to change the color to a deep brown to match my scheme but that's the gist. If you've already addressed this, just point me in the right direction.
I'd also take comments on how to reduce the space between images. It's way too big right now.

Still in testing but closer....

Thanks,
Beth

The spacing between the images is caused by <br> s in your html / description. Each time you add a <br> or a new line in your blog description, a new line character is added. Remove them.

As far as adding a border goes, there is a post in my play blog (http://denisegoldbergplays.blogspot.com) that shows two different ways to add a border to a photo. There is a link from the blog post to the code. Here's a link to the specific blog post - http://denisegoldbergplays.blogspot.com/2009/09/photo-with-border.html.
