How to fix problems (e.g. clipping) with pictures I upload on SmugMug

I've already tried changing the automatic Gallery sharpening settings, to no avail.

Any ideas of how to get around this? I'm still a beginner photographer and am new to SmugMug.

    Godles,

Thanks for posting this. I have tested both of your images on my calibrated monitor and I really cannot see any difference.

Is your monitor calibrated? Are you using a device to calibrate your monitor?

Are you saving your images in sRGB colour profile?

I just calibrated my monitor and it's the same. Here are the specific parts that seem off to me:

Can you still see no difference? I sent the picture comparison to two friends and they both said that they noticed it.

Also I did save my images with an sRGB profile, although when I tested uploading the same images with an AdobeRGB profile, the problem remained on SmugMug. And thank you for your time thus far.

If anyone else can give their input on whether or not they see a difference, that could be helpful.

    Godles,

Thanks for this. I can see now the difference - which can be caused by the resize process and sharpening. Every preview that we create is resized and sharpened for optimal viewing experience. This is a normal behaviour - and it can be visible on very dark areas.

The original image is not affected - because we do not resize or sharpen it. The change is so minimal that it should not affect your visitors experience.

Ah that's weird because I thought removing the gallery's sharpening settings would remove the problem, but it didn't. Are you referring to a different re-sizing and sharpening process? And is there no way for my getting around this? Just curious and thanks for your patience.

    Godles,

Resizing does affect the sharpness little bit - this is why we have to apply some sharpness to your images, even if you turn the sharpening off.

There is not much that we can do about it unfortunately.

I wish I had a better answer for you.

It's alright, it's not your fault and thank you again for your time.
