.vob files
Hi all
I'm trying to upload some video files that are in .vob format. It is saying that it is not supported. Can anyone point me in the right direction of getting these onto SM please? I'm guessing a conversion will be needed? If so is there a way to do it without losing quality? Big thanks Nish |

Files with the suffix, "vob" generally originate from a standard definition video DVD, and they are generally a video MPEG2 format.
Follow the instructions on this page for very good results for converting the file prior to upload: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/84569 Performing noise reduction on your video, prior to conversion and reducing the data rate, will help to retain detail. If you need further help, the SmugMug support is available at: http://help.smugmug.com |

I was about to post about this exact same thing!
:I was hoping a conversion wasn't necessary. Some other great conversions softwares are ffmpeg and xavidemux. I'll probably use ffmpeg since I can batch process my conversions. xavid is great for simple editing with conversion.
