I would like to know what y'all think of this pic.
The light coming through the glass on a stormy winter day just caught my eye.

i like the subject matter and foreground. i don't however like the window and "dingy" look behind it. i think this shot would benefit if it was set up in a studio with proper lighting, and maybe a black backgroundne_nau.gif

but i like the photo. yes.thumb.gif

With the background, you should definitely try a black and white conversion for it, I think it would look great. But it's definitely a nice composition.

Thanks guys. I have to admit... it's a window in the storage pantry off the kitchen that is never used and obviously never cleaned either :D Those are spider webs. The swan is a weather barometer and the level rises in the neck as the pressure lowers. A huge low front was moving through that day. It normally doesn't overflow and drip out the beak. It just caught my eye the way the light was shining through my glass bric a brac I have stashed in that window. I might try playing with a "studio" set up, but the drop would be very hard to duplicate, if not impossible. I think you have a good idea about black and white and I might try playing with that and see what it looks like. I might even try cleaning that window!

    Not Sure About The Background

The objects in the photo are great, now I had a second look is that actually dust and cobwebs on the glass in the background?

I like it but not with this photo, something is out of place and maybe its the Swan not the window? can't put my finger on it.

That swan would be pretty fragile wouldn't it, isn't that blown glass?
Love the door knobs too, they look really old....... Skippy (Australia)

They are cobwebs. It's a window in an icky storage type panty at the back of our farmhouse. Basically unused and neglected. The glass door knobs are mostly from this house, recovered from the barns and different spots I have found them. They are very old and usually go for high prices at the auctions around here. It's part of the history of this old house and I wouldn't part with them. The original part of it was built around 1860.
The swan is hand blown glass and indeed very fragile.
