If, for whatever reason, you don't want to use Smugmug's built-in Facebook interface and you just want to post a link to a gallery directly into Facebook, if you don't know the trick, then Facebook won't offer you a choice of thumbnails.

The trick is that your Smugmug gallery has to be forced to a non-ajax style before posting the link on Facebook. You can then set it back to whatever view you want afterwards. So, in my case, I set the gallery to All Thumbs view in gallery settings (it will then have all the thumbnails to choose from in Facebook).

Then, post your gallery link in a Facebook posting. It will see that there are lots of thumbs and offer you a choice.

Then, after posting in Facebook, you can put the gallery back to whatever style you want.

The problem is that when Facebook scans you're URL, it gets the default view type (which is usually the Smugmug view) which actually has no images in it until the ajax - javascript runs. But that javascript doesn't run when Facebook looks at your URL so it finds no images. Smugmug could probably fix this by serving up something similar to what they serve up to search engines when Facebook comes calling.
