Terrific stuff, Craig. Your work causes me to look at these old missions in an entirely new way....one much more tuned in to the various subtleties present.

BTW...let Randy know that these clouds are your property and he's to keep his hands off of them.:D

    See you, buddy,

In CA, most kids study the missions in 6th grade. Do Texans study them in grade school as well?

Love the pictures and post processing!

San Juan Capistrano is also the name of a city and mission here as well. Threw me for a loop lol3.gif

    Howdy Ian,

I can't believe you want me to remember back to 6th Grade :D:D:D
I'm sure the Kiddo's in that Area were probably taught more about it,
like where I grew up in Fort Worth we learn about our local history.

I really can't remember learning about them, and honestly didn't know
that much about them before, and when getting ready for a trip to
that area started learning more and more about them. Most Texans
and the Rest of the World know about the Alamo, which was the 5th Mission
    on the Trail.

Anyone thinking about going and like riding bikes or walking they have a wonderful
trail that leads from one Mission to the Other. Any for those that know me, I didn't ride
    or walk, We Drove !!!!mwink.gif

I can only imagine what you thought when you saw the title, and I
actually went back and made sure I had the name right before I wrote
    it.

I hear you! Been a couple of years here too lol3.gif

In CA, each of the missions is about a day's walk apart. There are about 21 left here. They stretch from Mission Sonoma and south to Mission San Diego. Most are situated along El Camino Real which takes various forms along the route. Of course, some are quite a ways from what is the El Camino today.

I'm lucky. There are two missions near me that are less than 20 minutes away. I've been to almost all of them...except the one that is 5 minutes away (Mission Santa Clara).

The missions are an important part of California History and not all as "good" as you'd learn in school lol3.gif

Pretty awesome to compare the missions in Texas to those in California. Love seeing the pictures too.

    Howdy Ian,

Agreed on not having to go back to what I learned in 6th Grade :D:D:D

I can only imagine how wonderful all the Missions in CA have to be, 20 of them is amazing,
hopefully one day I'll be able to get out there and see them.

I certainly understand about sometimes not seeing or going to things so close
to where we live. Seems like most times I get to see some of those things
when people out of town come in and have things on their lists eek7.gif

Photography has brought so many places, people, and things to my attention
and have loved every second of those new and exciting places.

    Kindest regards !!!
    Take care,

    Craig

California's Mission San Juan Capistrano, founded in 1776, has the oldest building in California which is still being occupied/used.

    Morning Ana Maria,

Thanks very much, IR has kind of
    renewed my passion for Shooting,
it has a different way of seeing
    what would be normal shooting
    setting of subject.

    Morning Gary,

That's really neat about how long the Mission has been
occupied and used. So many things these days don't even
last 30-40yrs so it's a great Testament to the builders of
    these wonderful pieces of History.
