During this year's Maine visit we were fortunate to have a rental house with a beautiful beach on Harpswell Sound. At low tide, I enjoyed exploring the beach. In addition to collecting images, I also picked up several pieces of sea glass. Granted, some were not the smooth, colorful pieces typically referred to as sea glass, but they were glass and they were from the sea! :D I found several pieces of old soda bottles, including Pepsi, and a very nice piece of a turn-of-the-20th-century canning jar.

One of my projects this trip was a study of a rowboat. It was anchored just off the beach and in the 2 weeks I was there I never saw anybody use it. i took numerous shots on different mornings. I varied the times by enough that I could see more or less water depending on the tide times. Here are a few that I like. Comments are always appreciated.

1. I am undecided about the purplish area at the top--color is nice but is it distracting?

2. I think the boat is too small, but this is the best shot I got to show the setting.

3. Does this work as a silhouette or is the boat just too dark?

7. I am going to rework this one in B&W.

and ......

8. Not the rowboat but I love this one--this is the view from the room where I stayed.

Looks like you had a wonderful, peaceful location for your vacation.

#1: IMHO, if you crop the top to just below your watermark, it becomes a very strong comp, and compelling image. Good job!

Like the series. On #1, the purple bands at both the top and the bottom distract my eye from the subject. Clean and simple is always better in my book.

It's great to see you " at work " again, Lauren. In this set, I have to go with #1. I would crop out the purple band at top. That last shot also rocks.

    Take care,

    Tom

    Morning Lauren,

Looks like you had a wonderful time on your
Trip, and love all the water images.

I agree with the group on cropping number one,
but also might suggest looking into some
    B&W conversions.

That last one is truly my Favorite of the
Series, Look like you had a lot of enjoyment
    with this endeavor.
    Take care,

    Craig
