Statistics collection - real-time or periodic?

For those for us who obsess over statistics right after we release a new gallery, are they real-time? Or are they collected periodically?
In other words, while I have steady views after a gallery release (as in multiple new views per second - yeah I wish), if keep F5-ing a stat page, will it show the views increasing? Or are view stats collected, say, every 30 seconds (or every hour, or every 8 hours), and I wont see my stats change until the next stat collection period?
THANKS - Especially for not counting my own views!
ps - are iPad app views counted for the owner logged into the app, still? (I think they used to be - but that may have been a while ago.)

Stats are not always going to appear immediately after your site is viewed. Sometimes there may a delay. It's impossible for us to give you a window of time they'll be updated. (We're working on an issue right now for delayed stats from today, and they won't be visible until that is taken care of.)
No logged in views are counted, now.
