Memorial Day weekend, I was back up on Long Island for the annual Jones Beach Air Show. Weather was less than ideal for an air show (Friday practice was flown despite clouds and occasional showers, and Saturday was rained out entirely) but we did get to see some cool stuff. Noticeably absent were the USAF Thunderbirds and other US military hardware, but the RCAF did send their CF-18 demo to the show. With the weather, I ended up spending the entire weekend hanging out at the American Airpower Museum, which hosts the show aircraft every year.

2 - Sean Tucker launches - using about 30 feet of runway to get airborne!

3 - AAM's C-47 departing for the beach.

4 - CF-18 flyby after his demo at the beach.

5 - GEICO Skytypers return from their performance, keeping tight formation even on the ground.

6 - Apparently Santa left the sleigh at home, opting for a ride in the C-47.

7 - Captain Dan trying to hold off the AAM's armor division.

8 - After landing, the CF-18 pilot asked tower if he could take a detour and taxi past the group of people with cameras out on the tie-down area. Those crazy Canucks!

9 - "Yankee Lady" on take off roll.

Boy, John, that's some really, really good work. Your nighttime work ranks with the best I've ever seen.....something I've enjoyed for a long time. That PBY shot is exceptional. The whole series is very well done.clap.gif

If you haven't done so, scoot up to the mountains for a look-see. They are blanketed with the most stupendous coverage of intense green foliage that I've seen in a long time.

    Take care,

    Tom
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Thank you, Tom, I really appreciate that. I may get up to the mountains this weekend. I was up in Pennsylvania this past weekend for Chryslers at Carlisle, but don't have anything on the calendar for this one. With all the rain we've gotten so far, I can imagine everything is green out there.
