vertical bar between text blocks?

I want to place a vertical bar a few pixels thick between two text blocks. The design/separator when dropped next to a text block generates what is essentially an empty text block. This means that I have to guess how tall it will be in pixels, even though the text blocks on either side may change height according to screen display size.

I saw something in my searches about setting the border of a text block, but I don't see any way to do that.

Is it unreasonable to expect to be able to use a vertical separator bar that behaves like the horizontal one?

You'd need to set a right or left border on one of the text-blocks. Using Firebug or Developer, grab the specific class for that text-block, then add the border.

For example:

.text-block {border-left:2px solid #000000; }
