  What a beautiful bird. Unfortunately, they're fairly rare these days in Maryland. I understand that in years past, they were a fairly common sight in summer, hence the Baltimore baseball team being named the Orioles, but I haven't seen one around here since I was a kid.

  I've been living on my acreage since 1985 and my first and one time sighting of an oriole was four or five years ago.
  
  This spring I had two males hanging around for a week or so before a female showed up but unfortunately they moved on, sigh...
  
  I was about 16 - 17 feet away, this is the SOOC...
