Maybe some of you remember Paul Simon and his song, which I'd sang to you as my comment to this photo....

BOOKENDS THEME
Simon

Time it was, and what a time it was, it was
A time of innocence, a time of confidences
Long ago, it must be, I have a photograph
Preserve your memories; They're all that's left you

---
Could you, please, dear friends, explain me the meaning of 'Bookends' word here?
Spasibo (In Russian Thank you)

    Great pic, as usual, Yuri.

Bookends are objects that are placed on each side of a row of books to keep them vertical. They always come in pairs. The song refers to a couple who have known each other for many years. Paul Simon was quite young when he wrote the song, but I guess he had figured a few things out ahead of time.

    Cheers,

Yuri - you nailed this oneclap.gif Love the expression and how it captures the feeling you put forth w/ the song lyrics and memories.

What a lovely portrait, Yuri. It makes me feel that while I might not know everything about the subject, I know the important things.

The background makes that pic special. So rich with texture and deep tones. Great stuff.

    Wow, tremendous, Yuri.

Technically, the skin tones are perfect. Nice and sharp. Perfect exposure.

Aesthetically, great face, great expression, background works really well, shirt and background colors work well together.

    An arresting image.

Wonderful photograph. It shows that it does not take a beautiful women to make a beautiful portrait. Although I certainly enjoy looking at those as well.

    Yuri,

This image reminds me how vulnerable we can be as age overcomes ability.

    EVENING OF LIFE

Long night dark, somber and cold
    Is so silent, yet, behold!
    Harken voices yonder those,
    Whence a storm icy blows.

    I am alone, without friend,
    Without anyone to fend
For my needs in this old age
In this home, a real cage.

What keeps me but company close
    Are some distant voices those
That come from my hoary past,
Which will with me till end last.

The best years of my life
I gave for children and wife,
For my country, for my men,
    In order to defend them.

But now that my back is bent,
Why should I at all repent
    That I have been forgotten
    By all, today, forsaken?

    Memories of olden days,
When from all I did win praise
For my service, for my deed,
    No one remembers indeed.

Now that I am old and weak,
No more than this do I seek:
    “Don’t hate my infirmity,
    Let me live with dignity.

I hope it is not too much
    To expect luxury such
That I need not beg for bread,
That hunger be not a dread.

    If that be not possible
And you are just not able
    To my life thus protect,
    Let me die with respect”.

Yuri, title and song aside this is one of the best photos you've ever shared with us. Pretty girls are just that, but this is a man with character and so is the photograph.
