7D MKII Auto ISO vs Safety Shift ISO

I'm looking for clarification between these two settings to make sure I'm understanding it correctly or if I'm missing something. I was shooting my daughter's soccer game using Manual mode (2.8 & 1/1250) + Auto ISO. I understand that Safety Shift ISO only works in P/Av/Tv modes so during the game I switched to Tv (1/1250), turned on Safety Shift ISO and set the ISO to 160. My min & max aperture was set to 2.8. The ISO floated between 125-160. After a few shots, while still in Tv mode I turned off Safety Shift ISO and went back to Auto ISO. I noticed that the ISO with Auto ISO was nearly the same as when Safety Shift ISO was enabled (approx. 125-160).

So other than Safety Shift ISO not being available in Manual mode, is there an advantage/disadvantage/difference between the two when shooting in P/Av/Tv mode? :dunno Other than preference between shooting M or Tv, I didn't see a difference during my test unless there is a better setup with either option that I'm missing.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated....
