This was a quick grab family portrait on a friend's dock when my daughter was home from college. Single SB800 in an umbrella. Got lucky with the wardrobe choices hiding the shadows from the flash.

    AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

That's one to treasure, for sure - photographers might nit (I probalby would clone out the shadow falling off Stefanie (?Stephanie) but who cares. It's a FABULOUS catch of your beautiful family. iloveyou.gif

Thanks, DM. If I had realized how nice this might turn out, I would have set up a second light. I was there shooting portraits of a friend's children and used a single light with just the 1 or 2 subjects. Then my wife and kids dropped by to say hello since Stefanie was home from college.

Not only a good looking family, but very patient as well.

Families and friends usually weary quickly of those poor souls infected with the tenacious and persistent photo bug. :D

Perfect! Love the nice blue sky/background. Don't worry about the shadows. Catch those moments while you can. Really nice.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

The spontaneity of this shot is what probably made it work. Sam is right that most get board and show it in their portraits after a while.
