Improving the visibility

Hi.
I wanted to improve the visibility of my images.
So far I have used the either posting directly to facebook uploads or giving external links to a smug mug gallery.
I am not sure though which of the two ways make people look more my shots.
Facebook looks to be easier and more convenient for people to see my shot but on the other way I like the smug mug quality.

What is your experience and which way do you prefer to share just one shot?

I share images on my blog and on Google+. Clicking on images shared on my blog takes the viewer to the photo on smug.

I've never thought that using thumbnails was an effective way of representing a photo.

I don't use thumbnails anywhere. I share the photos using the links on Share... Get a link, embedded tab. That uses the photo size of my choice.
