No share button at gallery level?

It appears there is no longer a share link at the gallery level. You must open an individual photo, then click share, then click "get a link", then click the Gallery tab, only then can you get the URL to share.
Why is this? It seems against the UI design principle of direct action/direct manipulation. Available user actions should be presented based on the current object. At the gallery level the current object is the gallery itself. That is why there's a Slideshow button at the gallery level, not hidden down at the photo level.
Why is the option to share the gallery now presented at the individual photo level? That does not seem logical or very discoverable from a UI standpoint.
Yes I know you can just copy/paste the URL at the gallery level, but that does not explain the rationale behind the design change.
