Is this happening all of the time or only in some cases?

I recently re-uploaded most of my gallery to a Facebook page, in the stats it showed a post for every image, and I have Twitter integration, so it also spammed my feed with a new entry for every single post. Very unhelpful!

    works now
been trying throughout the evening - looks like it is back up and working now.

Was this an issue with facebook, or smugmug? Anyone else see this issue?

    session expired loops forever.
    From any gallery, e.g. http://images.redwoodtwig.com/Landscapes/big-and-small/578595_R8F5ct#!i=24202181&k=nDys2

when I click on publish to facebook, I get this

Your session has expired. Please login again.

If I click on login, the login screen comes up, followed by my home page. I navigate back to the page I want to publish from, click the publish to facebook option and it goes through the same thing. It used to work very nicely.

Using latest version of Chrome on Win 7, 64bit

It does appear to be working on Firefox.

This thread doesn't seem to be getting much in the way of replies or whatever, so I'm just double-checking, since I haven't seen an update for awhile.... We still have the problem with FaceBook creating multiple notifications per published gallery, correct? I know it was on their end, but I have a few galleries I'd really love to publish & just want to be sure it's still "broken". Don't want to publish until fans only receive one notification per gallery. Thanks in advance for letting us know. Also, was that problem only for publication to Fan Pages, or to Profiles as well?

Arrrrrrgh!!! Spent about 12 hours over the past 2 days putting together a "page" on facebook and have been "publishing" to facebook from smugmug many of my galleries.

First of all Im using Mac OSX 10.7.4 with Safari 6.0, IN order to be able to even start the process I have to manually create new albums on my facebook page first. Im unable to create a "new facebook page album" from smugmug, It gets to this point (see attachment) and then nothing will happen when I press "create it."

Ok so I found the workaround was to manually create a bunch of new galleries first. Spent hours uploading and setting up a bunch of new galleries and getting all the text the way I want it and then I go look on my iPad and I see that there is a post for every single image that I just uploaded!!! Mind you I havent published the page yet and now I cant! I dont want ipad users to have to scroll through 1800 individual image posts to see relevant info I have been posting in between galleries, Let alone for them to see EVERY single image as an individual post as they're being uploaded.

Since I havent published the page yet I dont know if other users are going to view the page as individual images or not. I have viewed my facebook fan "page" as the owner using firefox on my mac, using the Facebook app on an iphone 4 using iOS 5.1.1, using safari on the same iPhone. Using safari on my iPad the posts are as they should be but using the latest updated facebook app on the ipad shows all 2000 of the images as individual posts. This has ruined my "wall" and all the other info I have been posting over the past 2 days in order to get the page ready for all viewers using the facebook app on iPads.

Do I now go back and delete all this work and start over manually collecting all these images and manually uploading them??? Also I read about other users "unpublishing" their page while they would add new galleries. I assume the images will not show up individually in peoples stream once you republish the page? Can someone confirm this for me? I would imagine though that when an ipad user looks at the page wall they will all still be there one at a time. This makes the whole app useless in my opinion.

Hello...yes the post per image is a problem, and it is a facebook problem that has not been resolved yet. I was hoping it was corrected, as I have not checked on this since early July.
I tried unpublishing my page while I uploaded, but I think it still spammed folks after I went back to publish, i.e. I lost 2 followers immediately following the publish to facebook event, and my stats still showed the individual posts.
For now I just pick a couple of my best shots from an album, and publish those to facebook, and say "More xxx at link". I like the description better with the publish to facebook feature versus just the share button.
You can delete the individual posts before publishing, but man that's a lot of posts!

Here's to hoping facebook gets this sorted out at some point.
There is a reference somewhere in this thread of the link on facebook to follow this issue.

Also the images look like crap on the iPad, I chose Xlrg option but even at that size the images are extremely pixelated. More and more viewers are switching to mobile browsing, the tablet and the smartphone are replacing desktopsat an exponential rate. Im very surprised that the mobile experience is not more of a priority for your team. I understand this is a beta and that some of these bugs are on facebook's side but with the number of people choosing to go with mobile web products the mobile side of the business HAS to be a priority!
Please take a look at the following link and look at the relative number of mobile devices sold each quarter as they were introduced.
    http://aaplinvestors.net/stats/iphonevsipod/

Look at the rate of adoption of the ipad in relation to the iPhone alone! And this is only Apple products! The numbers of mobile users will soon surpass those of the desktop users. 90 million ipad users alone, thats an extremely large market of people who are not being served well. (regardless of wether it is the facebook app or an issue on smugmugs side, Im just making the point) And that number will continue to grow exponentially over the next few years. I hope you guys and gals can stay ahead of the curve on this, right now I cant say I'm too impressed.

Yes momazunk I hope they can get some resolutions on their end as well, Im lucky I suppose that Im not relying on these features to run a business. Currently Im still just toying with the idea of pursuing photography full time, but without the ability to deliver a proper mobile experience I will choose to stay on the sidelines for now.

Thanks for the info... I'm just so anxious for this to get fixed already! I have a big back-log now of stuff I can't publish til it's fixed. Do you know whether this problem (a post per image) is a problem with Profiles AND Fan Pages ? Or just one of them? Thanks!

Well, after working with the fb platform extensively for someone else, I've determined that fb isn't even close to ready for business. A simple fb bug can break even the most thought out plugin or app and they do nothing about it even when people's business depend on it. I won't be relying on anything from facebook like I do from SM--it's just not possible.

I feel it's better to post here about something like this, as it's not a SmugMug problem but a FB one. (although of course it affects any of us who wanna post galleries on FB via Smug) So yeah, the Smug Heroes are already aware... we're just all waiting for FB to fix it. I just want to be sure we all hear about it when the problem is fixed. People don't want to post galleries right now if they're going to lose fans due to the notification-per-image problem, so lots of Smuggers are sitting tight 'til FB gets around to caring about this.

I know what you mean, but I've been traveling a lot all summer & have had to go with the simplest of online comm. And to be fair, it was the community here that initially brought this problem to the attention of SmugMug & even had to do some "proving it". When you have thousands of people using a feature, it's not surprising that one of them may become aware of a hitch (or a fix, as the case may be) even before those up the line do. Sometimes we don't realize how many people are in the background just waiting for the second something gets fixed, & the fix could easily happen days before Smug gets around to officially reporting it. This "publish to FB" feature has been such a time-saver for so many; it solved a whole gamut of problems with one swoop & has been such a boon to many of us. Hoping FB gets on it soon!

Could you tell me what you mean by "You can delete the individual posts before publishing?" I'm not following that. How/where do you see those individual posts? I thought they were appearing in your fans' newsfeed? Just wondering, as I was pondering a workaround until FB fixes this issue. (so much for "high priority"!!)

Both of these problems you described were known issues (although I have no idea if the first problem, having to create new albums, was only a problem w/ certain browsers or OS) But that first problem (having to create new albums) had been fixed, if you read back a few pages in this thread. It sounds like it has reared its ugly head again. That's a real bummer!! The 2nd problem is, as I think you've now noted, a FB issue that they haven't yet fixed. However, if you gather any more detail about how to "unpublish" a page while creating new galleries, I'd like to hear more about this workaround. I'm not quite conceptualizing that but would like to try it if someone can explain.

Simple-- Mobile app for DGrin, but no email in my phone for Help. (also, when I was camping w/ no electric-- doing fastest stuff possible, haha!) Anyway, I also plead my original point-- when you've got a crowd of people in a thread who've been using a feature, one of them is more likely to know as soon as something's been fixed. That's just the way this thing seems to work (the entire forum, I mean...) the multitude of users are able to be of help when it comes to finding bugs or issues & also publicizing it when things are fixed. It's the nature of the beast-- strength in numbers. "Help" will want to go back & forth explaining the problem in detail, etc... not usually a simple Q. This issue is already known & we're just waiting for a FB-end fix & then to make that public right away. And I'm wanting to know whether the multiple-posts problem exists with Profiles as well, or solely with Fan Pages. I'm sure other folks here would like to know that answer too, so if we can learn the answer here, we can help others wanting that same info.

    FACEBOOK Bug link (multiple posts)
I just wanted to report the facebook bug page for the multiple posts when publishing an album. The issue occurred after the May 8th FB update. There is absolutely NO feedback from Facebook on the website. I think we need to make some noise.
Here is the link, subscribe to the issue, and leave comments to get their attention!

Looks like only developers can subscribe or leave comments? I don't see a way to do any of that myself. But I'm glad to see Miikka Skaffari (sp?) from SmugMug is listed as a subscriber. Cannot see comments. It certainly does look, however, like the issue needs a lot more noise. If anyone reading this can do that, I hope they'll go for it.

I'd still really like to know whether this issue only affects Fan Pages, or Personal Profiles as well. I haven't been able to hear anything back about that. Also a few people have mentioned a workaround, doing some kind of trick like unpublishing & then publishing again? If this can work I would really love to ear more detail about it. Thanks!

I have only seen it happen with "Fan Pages". I haven't found any workaround work 100%. Additionally this doesn't happen every time, so making sure a workaround "works" is very hard.
