Lightening does strike twice - Wedding Off-Camera Lighting

These are, essentially, right out of the camera. Mostly because I wanted to post these before going to bed as I will be in Montana for a week! :barb :barb

Light setup - the room is 53' x 80' (more or less) and the lights were at opposite corners. Lightstands were used (D'oh), raising them to about 12' off the floor (13' ceilings). The 622 strobes were set at 1/32 or 1/16 power (can't remember which) and exposures were taken at 1/250, ISO 800, and f/3.5 (some variation, but not much)

1. This mother/daughter was standing about 20' in front of one of the strobes. If you look close, you see the strobe providing something of a rim-light effect.


2. This is one of the bride's daughters - cutest thing you ever did see. She was turning the table into a drum and GrandMa (beside her) was having fun trying to "control" the child.

4. I'm told these were twins. I don't know, but they are just about the cutest little girls. And I mean it, just like I meant it when I said the same thing above.

6. Bride and Groom. I guess the Groom has figured out that he has really scored it big-time!


7. Same little girl from #2, with mother (the bride) trying to convince her to come out from underneath the table.



As fantastic as this lighting technique might be, there are still some gotchas. Can anyone see the problem here? Hint: There were no Martians at the reception.
