1.0.4.8 SM Plughin for lightroom Problem

Every time I make a new gallery it tells me I need to update to 1.0.4.8 lightroom plugin. I click "download and install" but every time I create a new gallery it prompts me again. As well it does not save the new quick settings I created for galleries in my Control Panel actually on SM (not in LR). Why does it keep doing this? What should I do? I am afraid if i remove the plugin in then re install it will create issues.

What do I do - it is making this plugin pointless if I have to keep re-applying the same settings for every gallery because it won't save them.

    Hi Bradford,

Without updating again, can you let us know what version of the LR plugin Lightroom reports you have right now? Wondering if something isn't sticking for some reason.

    Something definitely is not "sticking"
    After checking LR Plugin Manager
Upload Method: Put (what does that mean though, as Post is my other option...)
Version: 1.0.2.35 - and I just clicked "install update" in that same window. It loaded it all up but did nothing. It stills says 1.0.2.35 is still the version...

    G'day Bradford,

Can you please check that the plugin itself the SmugMug.lrplugin folder itself read-only...and if it is make it read-write.

    Cheers,

when I right click the lrplugin folder the box next to "read only" is filled blue, not checked, but filled. I go to make it empty but every time I go back and look at it again, the blue box is filled again soo what's that mean?

I've had this problem and basically its a permissions issue. You could try starting Lightrom with 'Run As Administrator' from right click context menu then try the plugin update. But what I normally do is download the plugin zip file, extract it, locate the current plugin installation directory (in LR, go to Plugin Manager, find Smugmug, look under 'status' for 'Path'), close LR, then manually copy the 'Smugmug.lrplugin' directory from the newly downloaded ZIP over the top of the installed files in C:\. It will then upgrade the plugin.

I have also found permissions stops the SYNC feature working properly, (cant create working files in the plugin directory) so what I did is entered properties for the plugin folder, then changed permissions for USERS to 'Full Control'. I needed to do this on Win7 64 bit even though I use an Admin account.

Ok I opened as admin. and now I had to reload all the smugmug plugin stuff. I clicked 'sync hierarchy' but all the photos it showed as being there before all this...now everything comes up as 0...did I just lose everything? what happened!

Can you double check that the version indeed is at the latest version even if you restart Lightroom? If not, try updating the plugin again and afterwards use the reload plug-in button in the "plug-in author tools" section (of the plug-in manager).

Cool ya I reloaded it and now it all seems to be working. Sync'd hierarchy got everything looking solid I think.
