Best way to showcase most recent galleries

On my site, I would like to highlight the last 5 or 6 galleries I've most recently added. However, the user interface for me to add a Galleries section to my home page makes it pretty difficult. I'm looking for suggestions!

I've got a galleries section, but the UI to select galleries is... difficult. The galleries in the UI are sorted alphabetically, and I have to find each one I want to de-select and one I want to select. With hundreds of galleries, believe me, this gets old quick.

There is a feature request for a better way to select (and deselect) galleries & folders in the thread Improved 'Items I Choose' interface. I'd suggest you add a comment to that thread.
