    Try customize > gallery settings
Gallery description and feature photo are under gallery settings not customize > customize site.

    of course - thanks!

However - I now realise I was trying to seta feature photo for a section not a folder i.e. for 'Family', a section that contains galleries (if I have the terms right) - I wanted an image to display when that section (folder) comes up

Also yes although I can edit text under gallery settigs there used to be in the legacy version, a simple 'edit' option at the bottom of the text as displayed IN the gallery

For every type of page you can set a feature image

    customize > gallery settings
customize > folder settings (at every folder level)
    customize > page settings

For a "section" do you mean sub-levels like legacy sub-category?
Every level is a separate page and each can have a feature photo set.

not always sure what I mean Alan!
    :(

Now I'm having trouble with watermarks - I KNOW I have found it once but have lost it again- can you remind me please?

What I used to like to be able to do was to go to amn image FIRST then clcik make into watermark - why that way round? because sometimes the file name wasnt very clear for choosing between ones I'd uploaeded , several versions usualy to see what they looked like once uploaded - so it's easier to go to the image first then make into a watermark than go to watermark and chose the image from its title or thumbnail (if available -can't remmeber)

    Hello :)

If you would like to set up a certain image as a watermark, you would need to go to your Account Settings > Business > Branding > Watermarks > Manage section and click on CREATE. You can select the image there, screenshot: http://take.ms/bU9na - once you set your watermark up, please don't forget to save the changes! We also have a great help page that explains all about watermarks here: http://school.smugmug.com/SmugMug-Tips/Encyclopedia-of-the-Watermark

If you would need further assistance, you can always email us directly as well: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/emails/new

    I hope this helps!

that svery helpful thansks I'll try that out

I was used to the old system where you have an image and just choose 'make into watermark'

I have to say I do wish it was in the menu that you can access just under each individual picture - as 'I am a Bear of Very Little Brain, and long words Bother Me,' it would be so much easier and much more logical for people like memwink.gif

I notice I have to keep the descriptions shorter than Id like as you can't see the end of descriptions over about 16 characters long

Use the Organizer. Click "Organize" at the top. Drag and drop works within it.
