Changing category/sub-Category for multiple galleries does not work correctly

Given a site with some galleries in categories and others in sub-categories trying to apply bulk category or sub-category changes has incorrect results.

For example, given the following base structure:
  • Vacations (category)
    - Vacations/Hawaii (gallery)
    - Vacations/Japan (gallery)
    • Vacations/Europe (sub-category)
      - Vacations/Europe/Germany (gallery)
      - Vacations/Europe/Switzerland (gallery)
Selecting "All of my Galleries" and setting the new category to "2010" and sub-category to "Summer" creates the following structure:
  • 2010
    - 2010/Hawaii
    - 2010/Japan
    • Vacations/Europe
      - 2010/Europe/Germany
      - 2010/Europe/Switzerland
The galleries are all put under the 2010 category, but not the Summer sub-category. In addition, the URL for the sub-category hasn't changed at all, but it does appear in the 2010 category.

You can see the effects of this in my galleries at:

Apart from the bug, SmugMug really needs a way to change the category of an entire sub-category. The reason I'm using the gallery settings page to change all of my galleries is because I have one sub-category with the bulk of my pictures and it's easier to re-classify the galleries that aren't in it than to select each of 58 galleries one by one and move them.

Need to make changes to multiple galleries with one click.....
I've also been waiting on a way to make changes to an entire category or sub. If anyone has any ideas or smug can address this, that would be Great. To the Great techs at SM.... you guys are doing great, no complaining here.

Sorry, currently the subcategories won't work when changing settings on 'multiple galleries'.
Our engineers are working on a fix that should be out soon.
We'll post up the bug fix when it comes our on our blog: http://news.smugmug.com/

You can create the new 2010 category & sub-category "Summer", then move gallereis in to these by using the gallery settings tool. Just the 'multiple galleries' tool won't work, you'll need to move each gallery as needed.

Drop up an email at the help desk if you need any further help on this: http://help.smugmug.com/
