Road Trip to Death Valley Revisited

I have been wandering back through my images in my LR catalog, and seeing what images I might have overlooked, that now offer more interest with the better RAW engine in LR5

In the spring of 2013, I wandered west to Death Valley. I shot a few frames on the the way as I travelled west. These are a few I found that I thought were worth editing, that I overlooked back then

Manti la Sal east of Moab - I can't get to DV without going through Utah, after all

    All very nice! First and last shot are my favorites!! In my view, 2nd and 3rd could have little more bottom. Cheers!

    Wow as a New Englander the concept of walking about and finding a steer standing around and not in a fenced in pasture floors me. First and Last are my favorites. Definitely have to get out west sometime!

    Yeah, Jack , that first shot almost looks posed, doesn't it?

    It was not, it was just as I found it.

    And yes, you need to get out west, where you can drive for miles and miles and miles and never see a fence.

    And the black angus cattle can all be wandering right across the road at night in the dark - I know this, because it is pretty hard to see black angus cattle at midnight in your headlight in the desert. At least it was for me, but fortunately no cattle were harmed while I recomposed myself.

    Open range means exactly what it sounds like - open range with cows, or buffalo, or antelope, or deer et al, wandering about at will. In the mountains around Ouray, sheep and goats are quite likely to be on the back mountain roads also.
