I get logged out every time I close Firefox. Restarting Firefox always opens Legacy. Sometimes, rarely,
clicking around to a few pages all of a sudden my NewSite shows logged in.

After having a few weeks of not being logged out at all, today I was logged out twice.

Once when I went to my site for the first time today. Was doing anything special - just turned on computer and went to site.

Second time I have been in and out of the site, then went back and was logged out again.

The verify login screen after selecting view stats does not operate in a consistent manner. Sometimes all the data is there and I just have to hit login. Sometimes all the data is missing but as soon as I type two letters everything fills in. Sometimes the verify login screen is never displayed and I am taken straight to the account settings page.

This is an ongoing issue for me also. IE10 and Chrome, I must log in each time I launch the browser, despite the Remember Me button being checked. I must also log in to check stats. Quite annoying, I've asked about it here previously, no fix forthcoming aside from being told that the Remember Me button must be checked. I am feeling forgotten! Ha Ha!

I don't know why they will not put this issue on the front burner. Why is it not on the Active Bug List???. Such a pain. It's not even just any one browser. I've been seeing people reporting it for months now (well, that's after a brief "reprieve" where it had been happening for many months & then not), and I see all kinds of browsers having basically the same issue. I'm always on FF and I'm often logged out. It's still happening since a recent FF update. And in some cases (like leaving SmugMug open) I'm almost always logged out after a period of time, even though I have "keep me logged in" checked. If it logs me out, my info is never remembered. Not even my email. I have to type in the entire thing.

Very frustrating and then to login, because I use a password keeper, I have to wait for the full screen photo of someone I don't know, to load and waste bandwidth. Irritating to say the least.

FWIW, in FF you can save having to type in the entire email address if you install the Paste Email add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/paste-email-original/?src=userprofile and "save" the email address in there.

It's useful for quick-pasting all sorts of info - email addresses, phone numbers, usernames...

Other similar add-ons are available thumb.gif

In Firefox I get a drop with all my sites so I can click to populate that. BTW, I only use my user names and
not my email address. But the password never fills in even though I've saved that in Firefox. Firefox not
recognizing the page as a password page is the main problem.

It's a matter of perspective. IMHO "Firefox not recognizing the page as a password page" is a symptom, Firefox would recognise the page as a password page if it had been correctly constructed, the real problem is that SM don't think it's a high-enough priority to merit fixing it.

Apparently I need maps, vimeo, statcounter and other such bells and whistles more than I need a basic, simple, working login page headscratch.gif

Such much over this- maybe SM has something to fix, I dunno. But I can tell you I use and manage 5 different SM accounts - and I'm constantly logging in and out. I never get logged out unless I do it myself (that could be the randomness we've heard about). But one thing for sure: using a password manager like www.lastpass.com simplifies things immensely! Do it :D

You didn't see what AperturePlus said about that I guess:
Very frustrating and then to login, because I use a password keeper, I have to wait for the full screen photo of someone I don't know, to load and waste bandwidth. Irritating to say the least.

And, the log-out thing isn't random in the sense that it happens regularly for a lot of people, on a lot of browsers. And in the sense that, it was a real mess for many months, about a year ago. Then finally seemed to be fixed. Then came back in force, right at the same time the new log-in page was introduced. Certainly that's no coincidence.

One additional reason I know it's "back" for real again is that the same problem is happening with color-correcting that happens every time there are log-in issues. I haven't even bothered to mention these issues, because it's no use. When they fix the log-in issue, the color correction issue will be fine too. The reason is that if you're effectively being logged out while you happen to be in the middle of using a tool like Color correction, the system doesn't know how to let you proceed with that task, because you shouldn't be allowed to do it when logged out. So, for instance, the "Corrected" image just won't show up, takes forever to load, etc. The way to "fix" it is to get out of there, look around & sure enough, you're logged out. So you have to log in again & then sometimes it'll work. Or you'll have to log in yet a 3rd time. Be glad it's not happening to you, but honestly, why is it not even on the Active Bug List??!! ... since it's been happening since the new log-in page? And seriously, what other site do you know that has this humongous, image-based log-in page? Besides all the other complaints about it & the fact that it's not working right, it's just plain weird.

    Hi Allen

You might want to try 1Password (I am on a Mac and it is available PC as well). It works fine here on SM, but as mentioned, you have to wait for the background image to load before you can auto populate your details.

I don't know if this will work for you, but ....
I have a password keeping sotware (Norton ... yes I know, but it works fine for me and my eight computers!!)
When Smugmug login page appears, nothing gets filled in like it should ... but if I just click "login" anyway, my login data then immediately loads and I just click on login again. (Its just like a slow double click)
As I said, might work for you
My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you.

For the record I manage a single SM account where this is a constant issue, as noted. I also maintain accounts on four other photo sites where this is simply not an issue, so yes, maybe SM has something to fix but I'm done posting about it and will just live with it, albeit begrudgingly.

I have not had this problem at all except a few times seems years ago. My question - Is this happening ONLY to people who have unveiled? I haven't and no problem right now. Mac & Chrome.

It used to happen a lot more for me in legacy than it does since I unveiled. It seems to be affecting everybody in different ways.

When I open Firefox I first go to Dgrin or other sites then open my Smug site in another tab. Almost all time I'm
logged off but rarely when clicking around it pops in logged in. This morning I first opened my
Smug site and was logged in. Maybe the 2nd tab is what is not working 100%.

This has been happening to me constantly while I work on my site - Enough for me to Google it and find this thread. So I'm glad I'm not alone. I thought it was my crappy internet and I just tried checking to make sure Chrome was accepting cookies or wasn't blocking Smug in some way since my "Remember Me" box is clearly checked.

Still frequently getting logged out as well
I've still been regularly getting logged out as well, in all the ways that have already been reported here multiple times. FF, Vista, always have "remember me" checked off... It's been going on so long now that i just expect it. Often when I first go to my site I'm no longer logged in. Allen's conjecture a few posts back seems to fit my situation too (or I'm often opening new tabs to go to my site the way he is), but I'm not sure how consistently. Anyway, it would be awfully good to hear a LOT more detail about the testing of this and just to know that anything at all is getting looked at regularly. I don't see how this can be let go for so long. If you still have the code for the old log-in page, SmugMug, wouldn't it be worth trying to re-implement that, since most of these problems started with the new page? Or at the very least, compare them & see what you changed?

Today was the first time I got logged out a touch too often. Then I realized I was working in two FF windows simultaneously (instead of FF and Chrome, for example). I was logged in to both, and switching back and forth between legacy in one window and New in another. I couldn't tell if the problem was that I was trying to do work in two FF windows, or if it was a new problem altogether.

EDIT Correction: Actually what's happening is I get reverted to New when using the back button or just clicking a new menu link. I'm not getting logged out.

    SmugManager for FF. nod.gifnod.gifnod.gifnod.gif.
Click the login button and you're back in instantly (may need a refresh).

Still getting logged out all this week. And isn't it interesting how there's not one comment (that I saw, anyway) from SmugMug in this thread, which started in September. It's so pathetic how little they care about fixing this. Like Lou says, basically what choice have we had except to put up with this? But it's crazy-making. PLEASE, SmugMug. As I said before, couldn't you just TRY bringing back the old simple log-in page? Something in the new coding is obviously screwed up. And for the umpteenth time... why is this not on the Active Bug List??????

No, this has nothing to do with the log in page Anna. This has to do with workflow before getting logged out, so in order to troubleshoot, we need you to provide a detailed explanation of your SmugMug workflow before you were logged out.

So many people have done this already, including me. We users have spent many collective hours doing this, in fact. The problem is that so many times we just don't even remember or know what all we did before getting logged out. But many of us have described lots of scenarios to you, and yet we still keep hearing this same thing, whenever we finally do hear something.

Many people are wondering.... if this has nothing to do with the new log-in page, then why did it start rearing its ugly head again the very day the new log-in page showed up? Remember we were having major issues a year ago. Then they were mostly solved (except for people like the guy below for whom it's been happening for years). Then the day the new page happened, it all started up again. It's very difficult to "buy" that this is an utter coincidence!

You can figure out as much as I can just by reading all the past notes about it on many many threads. Many people are logged out overnight or whatever... AFTER having shut SmugMug down (but not purposely logging out). They simply try to go to SmugMug the next day & are logged out. It's on many browsers and many OS, so many of the people working on this should have no trouble replicating the experience of getting logged out. --Anna Lisa P.S. The old simple log-in page used to at least remember my email, even if I got logged out back when there were issues a year ago. This new one remembers nothing, not even my email.

Still same old Logged-out issues! Keep me logged in. Please.
I'm only commenting on this old thread because the problem of getting logged out when I constantly request to remain logged in is still happening, and moreover, has never ceased happening. Are there any updates? And this thread isn't nearly the oldest one about it... to my knowledge, & in my own experience, this has now been going on for more than a couple years. It happens on different computers, on different operating systems. For a long time, I was on Vista with FF. Log-out kept happening. Tried Vista with Chrome. Kept happening. Now (temporarily) I'm on XP with FF, since my motherboard died on my main computer. I'm still getting logged out, not every single time, but most days when I come back to SmugMug after having shut down everything, even though I've checked "keep me logged in", I am logged out. I've been using this system for a couple weeks now.

I imagine many of us have just continued to deal with it & have ceased complaining about the issue, because of course it's not a huge destructive thing. It's just an annoyance that should've been solved long long ago. If SmugMug needs to see the history of it, just search the forums as I did & many threads pop up. Btw, I don't see any rhyme or reason to the logging out. It's happened no matter what activities I've been doing on my site while logged in. I still see a major correlation to the appearance of the new, huge log-in screen. I'd be thrilled to go back to the simple one that loads immediately, and knew how to keep us logged in.

ETA: I just found this old thread, which may have some good info/history for SmugMug: http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=240016 FWIW, One of Allen's comments in there is that this issue will not be fixed until a Browser recognizes the log-in page as a password page. Now I'm off to see if this is in the Bug Report list. I probably should have posted there instead.

    Hi Anna,

If you're being logged-out, then it is quite possibly an issue with your web browser's cookie settings - or could be related to a third-party addon (Adblock, etc). Can you check your cookie settings within your browser and make sure that it is not set to block cookies.

If you continue to have issues with this, please contact us directly:

I think the point is that most, if not all, of us are members of many different sites and communities. Speaking for myself, this problem doesn't happen on any other site. I've checked my cookies and settings, and everything is just fine. If it doesn't happen anywhere else, but consistently happens with SmugMug, then I think the problem has to lie with how SmugMug does things. It shouldn't matter what our workflow is or what are browser habits are. "Remember me" should mean "Remember me". Why is SmugMug different to every single other site?

Amen. That is exactly the point. SmugMug simply won't "Remember me" lots of the time, when every other site I go to is able to do this if I ask. And the other point is that this has been happening to many people, and it kicked up big time when the page got changed to the huge photo display.
