Moon Venus Occultation
While on the road traveling Back to Idaho a good friend dialed me up to let me know that this occultation was just about to happen. We pulled over soon as we could and located the slim crescent moon with some effort in the bright fire smoke hazed sky. Had to handhold resting on the car in a brisk wind so I didn't expect much save for luck alone. Couldn't tell exactly what I was getting the daylight was so bright on the LCD. Could tell exposure but not critical focus. It was neat to see from near Ellensburg WA. Shot with a circular Pol and 70-200 @ 200mm . Here Venus is close to being completely covered by the moon.

Nice job in pulling this one off, Michael. Good framing of the shot too.

Thanks Tom It was a small battle finding it in the sky. Just wish I had left the camera settings alone.
I already had a great exposure but I just had to fool with it like I was doing myself a favor darkening the exposure a bit too much. Major error being in a hurry like I was.

Sweet Thanks for saying Cristóbal. Just wish I would have kept shooting. I was so close to getting it exactly on the moons edge. Next opportunity is something like Oct. 11, 2029. Don't have the exact details for that one but there is lots of time right

Your very kind to say Mary Kim. I thank you for that
It was a very cool thing to see let alone get a shot of it. I was so not ready. Had to make do.
My friend John was ready but Boise was clouded out. Glad he checked with me to see if I was in a cloud free position ready or not.
