2015 was a stellar year for auroras

this from a great night back last September, this storm lasted for hours that also icluded the moon rising with Venus as the sun was starting to rise

    Nice stuff Brian. Wondering if on #3 (my fave of the bunch if I had to pick) if you cropped out the furthest right quarter of the image to better place that lone tree on a focal line (rule of 3rds and all....) that you would still keep the more important portion of the aurora lights and have a better composed image....? Just a thought. Jealous that you get to see these often enough to shoot them.

    i tried to crop it but the crop introduced too much noise for me, but will remember the rule of 3rds next time :)

    these are taken in northern ontario, just north of Minneapolis :)

    so far this winter hasn't been as kind and when a good storm does happen along the skies have been clouded over
