Why don't you support the current opera browser?

Hi,

I'm using opera and smugmug.com doesn't work at all.
This seems strange to me since opera uses the same rendering engine as chrome.

Why does the site not work under opera?

While we want to support as many browsers as possible to reach as many users as possible we can only support the most common and highly used browsers. Opera's usage is not as high as the other browsers so we are unable to support it. The following link shows a chart of the major browsers and their usage.

    http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php

Here is a list of the fully supported operating systems and browsers.

Windows 8: IE10 and IE11; latest version of Firefox; latest version of Chrome

Windows 7: IE9, IE10, and IE11; latest version of Firefox; latest version of Chrome

Windows Vista: IE9; latest version of Firefox; latest version of Chrome

Mac OS X 10.10 and above: Safari 8 and above; latest version of Firefox; latest version of Chrome

Mac OS X 10.9: Safari 7 and above; latest version of Firefox; latest version of Chrome

    Suntsu,

Which version of Opera are you using? I have used the latest version on your site and I can confirm that everything is loading fine - please see my screenshot:

    @tomnovy
I'm using Opera developer 31.0 (The developer part might be the problem)

I'll test it with the current non-developer opera version and let you know.
edit: It works with current version(29) of stable opera

    Just one last note:
You(smugmug) or google will fix this.
The current dev version of google chrome(44) has the very same behaviour. Smugmug doesn't work at all.

We are glad to hear it works for you on the current version of the Opera browser. We do not support developer or beta versions of browsers.

    I'm glad that you're glad.
I repeat myself: You(smugmug) or google will fix this.
Either this is an error in chromes webkit of the developer version, and will be fixed by google, or it is on purpose, and then you'll have to update your site.
If the second case is true, this means your site will not work for chrome users at a certain point in time(When you just ignore any new version as you do right now)

I absolutely agree that you can support only a certain set of browsers.
But i disagree in the complete ignorance of any other browsers or version.

suntsu, there does appear to be a bug in the latest chromium (v43 which hit stable yesterday) that indeed did cause issues.

we were able to work around it so hopefully that was the same one causing issues for you in opera. Can you verify your site works properly now?
