At times the Gorge is gentle tree lined stream. Underfoot it is like a peeble beach but firmer.

As it twists and turns you look ahead and feel that you are heading into a dead end.

Suddenly the Gorge can change.
You are now scrambling over bolders.
Aware of the power that cuts the Gorge as you see smashed tree trunks embeded into the rocks you feel smaller still.
Notice the scouring of the rock face caused by large bolders being forced down stream.

In sections like this it is treacherous underfoot.
Their are warning signs saying walk quickly extreme danger from falling rocks. Luckily we had our walking boots and walking poles, others were doing this in sandles.
You are constantly id danger of slipping off the bolders many of which are polished through 2000 people per day walking over them.

With legs tiring and temperatures now approching 28 deg C in the shade you think this was a bad idea.
Then you meet something like this and it reminds you why it is worth it.

“It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter, because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the ordinary.”
