Lightbox slow to load or blank

I don't know if this is just the result of my home internet, or my smugmug site configuration but I am constantly finding my site to be very slow to load up images in the 'lightbox'. Sometimes it just gives up and displays a black screen as you can see below.

This happens for me in all of my galleries, so really what I want to find out is, is it just me? A result of my location (Australia), or how my website is configured?


Additionally, is there a way to fix the cut off text at the bottom of the page (circled in red)?
