Thanks Pam - they are quite common birds so many don't appreciate them because of that!

Nice job, Paul ... like most aspects of the shot, including the quality / diffused bg ... but not how the tiles have rendered as stripes.
Don't you have turf covered roofs in your neck'o the woods ? :)

Well, I think it's more to do with having been in similar situations than anything else ... ie trying to get a half decent shot of a fairly small subject in an urban environment - with a rubbish background to contend with.

It became apparent very quickly that I'd never get a decent (full body) shot with the setup linked below because of the totally naff perch attached to the box. (box was made when I was mainly interested in macro - so few, if any thoughts about bird pix)

Houses behind, white pvc framed windows etc etc ... in the end I pulled down a branch on a tree with a bit of rope, to help obscure / break up said junk.

The human eye is very good at finding patterns - nowt special about my (old) pair :)

Importance of bg with w/life shots is just too important to overlook / ignore (imo).

    Thanks for looking in everyone.

PP, there are NO good backgrounds around my house. It's an urban nightmare! rolleyes1.gif
