Moose have been very elusive for me over the years, so I was exited to see this cow moose with her two calves.

I apologize in advance for the quality of the shots of the moose in the water as the lighting was as bad as you could get. Late evening sun backlighting the moose off the water.

Those are some real cute mini-moose you have there. I don't think I've ever seen moose calves before. They almost look like donkeys.

    Hi Denise,

I guess it's universal no matter what species. Kids just want to have fun.

    Thanks for looking!

Those are the first moose calves I've ever seen. I agree with you, the calves look a lot like a donkey's rolleyes1.gif

Lucky you to find a Momma with twins! Great shots - I've always wanted to see something like this. Bet it was fun to shoot and observe.

    Delightful series Randy!
Funny looking creatures... are multiple births common in Moose?
Is the difference in size of the calves due to gender?

    Hi Mary,

I feel really lucky to have seen all of them!

I spotted all three again two days ago, but it was almost dark, so no new shots of them.

    Take care!

    Hey Eric,

I wish that I could answer your questions, but I just don't know much about moose, other than they are quite aggressive. I'll have to do some research when I get back home.

    As always, thanks for looking!

    Howdy Pard,

    Long time, no see!

Yeah, I felt very lucky to have seen them. To date I've been lucky enough to see 12 different moose this summer. Day before yesterday I was within 10 yards of a moose calf, and mom was 30 yards away. Common sense kicked in, so I started whistling so they would move off before mom decided that I was a threat to her calf.

I'll be home in October. Let's get together!
