Why does Lightroom or IMAC no longer detect my memory card

I've run into a strange issue this weekend with my IMAC. For some reason, either Lightroom or the IMAC is not detecting my Compact Flash card. However, when I insert an SD card into the reader, the import dialog comes right up. I've also checked my settings in the preferences menu of Lightroom and confirmed that it should import photos when a memory card is detected.

Need help!!

Are there any settings on the imac or in Lightroom that I should check. I've also tried a different card reader (KODAK USB PICTURE CARD READER) and it also is not working.

How do you tell (on a MAC OS) whether the MAC can see this memory card?

Take a look at the preferences for the Image Capture application in the Utilities folder in your Applications.

Unless you've set your system options otherwise, it should appear on your desktop and also in the list of devices in a Finder window (Command/N).

I presume I've understood your questions correctly. :D
