Can I run two different domain names for one smugmug account?

Here is why, I have two different accounts and two different domain names, I am wondering if I can combine them both?

Set up a Gallery page that a certain domain name will go to??

SmugMug only supports one custom domain name per account. However, there are ways to get multiple domain names to point to a single SmugMug account. The easiest way to do that would be to configure one of the domain names according to our setup instructions here:

    http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93340-how-do-i-use-my-custom-domain-?b_id=1644

Then, simply set up domain forwarding for the second domain name, to forward it to the first one. That would make both domains end up at the same SmugMug site.

So if I understand right, you can't get a domain name to go to a certain page of your smugmug website.

So here is a page on my website.

    http://www.nebraskastockphotography.com/Macro

Instead of the above, I would like a certain domain name go right to that address. That can't be done??

If I go to the setting on this page, you have a place to put into a custom URL. Can I put in my other domain name in that area??? Would that work??

As mrjosh said, you can only have a single domain name associated with your smugmug account.

You can forward a second domain to the domain set up for your smug site but the URL will change to the domain name associated with your site as soon as the site is opened.

morning, if you get the link for the page you want your domain to point to and put it into the forward to settings e.g. I use go daddy to manage my domains, it will go to that page, But the address bar will only show the domain you enter ed in the SM settings.

I am still having problems. I have combined my two sites into one, and have forwarded one address to a certain page on my site. Here is my problem. When i type in the address that i have forwarding, it is pretty inconsistent. One time it will take me to the page that i want it to go to, other times it will take me to the smugmug start up page.

    Why is it doing this??

    You can try it
www.lhnephotos.com and see what it does for you.

The http://www.lhnephotos.com/ domain is going to the smugmug.com homepage. It looks like you have the forwarding set-up incorrectly. Can you please let me know exactly how you have your domain forwarding currently set, so that we can assist you further with this.

You will want to remove the forward with masking for lhnephotos.com, then make sure the proper forward is set up; lhnephotos.com should forward to http://www.nebraskastockphotography.com/LHNE-Photos , with no masking. Unfortuently, there is not a way to forward the www version of lhnephotos.com to a page on nebraskastockphotography.com with GoDaddy. You can only forward the the root domain, http://lhnephotos.com

Yah that is what i am trying to do. I moved all the galleries from lhnephotos to nsp and trying to forward the lhnephotos.com address to a page on NSP.com.

I am really not sure why it is going to your smugmug website address. No one seems to know why??????

Did you have a cname or A record set-up previously to point to SmugMug. If so, you may want to remove this from your lhnephotos.com domain.

    No,

I even have gone into the LHNEPHOTOS smugmug account and removed that custom domain name there. Thinking that is what it was happening for some odd reason.

I was thinking that i might need to change the link name www.lhnephotos.smugmug.com to something else, but when i try i get this. It wont let me do it because of some password error. Never had this happen before.

You are getting that last error most likely from Safari auto fill. You will need to remove the asterisks in the current password field, turn off auto-fill or use a different web browser.

Got it figured out. Had to call GoDaddy and have them move an IP address. To bad they don't tell you that stuff on their site.

Well I have it somewhat figured out. What is happening doesn't make any sense.
www.lhnephotos.com will take you to the smugmug front page.
lhnephotos.com will take you to my page.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi,

I was talking to JohnHero about this a few minutes ago and we have a couple ideas for you. First, please login in to GoDaddy and in the forwarding section please make sure you turn masking OFF. Domain masking can cause a lot of problems including ability to see and access the correct URL and it can cause some big problems with the shopping cart.

Once you've turned masking off please check your DNS zone files and make sure you have removed the www CNAME pointing to domains.smugmug.com

After that's done if you continue to have problems we are happy to login and check your settings at GoDaddy, but we would need some information from you. Please don't post your information here though, if you'd like the additional help you can send an email to help@smugmug.com ATTN: John or Christina and we will need:

    * your smugmug nickname or a link to it (not the custom hostname)
    * your domain host name (who is your domain registrar) - GoDaddy
    * your custom domain (some users have multiples so I need to know which to work on) ihnephotos.com
    * the login id at the domain host
    * the domain host password (I do not need your SmugMug login)

Change your password to something random and send us that new password.

    We're standing by!

OK guys, i have done everything that you have asked.

    lhnephotos.com works, but www.lhnephotos.com don't work.

John, you have told me that www. will not work. What do i have to do to get this to work.

Also, www is still going to smugmug after i have deleted CNAME.

Can you please write us at the help desk here. We will need to get your GoDaddy login info to take a look at your settings and make sure all is good there.
