Using Instagram to Gain Business

Hi all,
So I'm starting to shift my Instagram account into something that I want to use as a tool to gain more followers within the photography community and network in it, but also as a way to increasing peoples' knowledge about the business side of this hobby.
Has anyone else used this as a tool of becoming more well-known? I've recently moved to a new city, and most everyone that follows me currently and knows about my business is a friend from home/college. What do you suggest I do to increase the popularity of my account and, in turn, my business? Any advice would be appreciated.
