Spent the entire Memorial Day Weekend in Northern Arkansas at the Rock Bottom Chuck Wagon Races. Friday night they had a Rodeo which featured some Bull Riding!

This was the first time we had ever tried our hand at shooting this type of event, but all I can say is the wife and I are both totally hooked. Between the speed and amazing ability of the riders, we can see why it has such a huge following!

This poor guy wasnt even out of the shoot yet and had already put in more than 8 seconds on a this bad mofo bucking and slamming him against the side of the gates!!!

Canon 5D, 400 f/2.8 - ISO 3200 1/180 @ f/2.8 - I lucked out on this one and somebodies flash must have gone off behind the rider which gave me almost studio like lighting on the whole scene! Some time yer' just lucky I guess!

These are the Wife's Shots

Some of these things come out of the gate in the air and already trying to get the riders off their backs!

Wow, that last one is amazing! Imagine having 2500 pounds of bull in the air above you - ugh!

Great shots. Looks like the 2 of you had fun getting hooked on a new event.clap.gif

    Thanks Snowgirl

Two things we learned, when anything has Cajohnes larger than your head, 99.9% of the time it's gonna win:D

#2, my wife is addicted to this like some drug addict on a binge. Between all the rough cowboys and the non-stop adrenaline, she wont stop talking about it and is ready to join the PBR Tour as a photographereek7.gif

    Thanks for the comments

Yup. It is addictive and lately the bulls have been winning on the PBR tour.

Very brave young men.Excellent first effort in difficult light conditions. I'm surprised you did so well at SS1/60.

Ok, so Friday nights event was our first stab at the Bull Riding thing. What we didnt know was it was just an appetiser for the Sunday night event that was Sanctioned and brought in some of the big guns from the PBR Circuit.

This guy actually rode this one out. I know looking at the shot it looks like he is about to get tossed!

This poor fella went for a nasty ride before he ever even got out of the gate!

And this is probably one of my favorites just because of how frickin' wild of a ride it looks like!

You do realize that any idiot who gets on 3000 pounds of mean needs his head examined, right?

    Those guys are NUTS! eek7.gif

And even CRAZIER are the rodeo clowns whose job it is to lure a p'd off bull away from a downed rider. Duh.

The shots are great, by the way!
