I went to www.karenlynch.smugmug.com and got nothing! Just a bunch of popups. Then I went to www.karenlynchphotography.com and got the same thing. I was panicking. I even tried www.dgrin.com and got the same thing.

I am definitely ordering a backup, that scared the tar out of me.

Any ideas as to what happened.

    Karen,

Your site is loading just fine, custom name and SmugMug Nickname. I can't explain what happened, it's likely an interwebsglitch.

You shouldn't worry too much, we have 4 copies of your photos in three different states, sure, order a backup if you like but we've got you covered!

I know it loads fine now, but it wasn't. Weird, weird. It happened for a couple of minutes. Thanks for keeping backups!

What if you guys go out of business or something? That's what I thought, it was like poof, you were gone.

I promise, if SmugMug goes out of business suddenly, I will get on Dgrin and post about it...from Andy's basement (ie, my new home).

P.S. It kind of sounds like spyware/adware, hijacking your browser and doing involuntary redirects. Allen is familiar with that. :)

    Karen,

What happened to you today has happened to me before and yes it is scary.

Click on my SM link, get a plain webpage with blue links and tons of pop ups. Typing in SM or my site name in Safari and FF didn't help. Dumping cashe/cookies didn't help.. Then it just stopped. I was on the phone with a friend who is also on SM and the same ISP as I am and they weren't having any trouble.

That just screams spyware / malware to me. If I were you guys, I would be very careful about what you do on your browsers until you clear that up. For all you know you could have a keylogger that would send information about your usernames and passwords to some nefarious net entity.

Frankly if I were you I would probably reinstall windows. Yes it could be that big of a deal. If you are not willing to do that, you should, at the very least, switch browsers. If you're using Internet Explorer switch to firefox. If you're already using firefox switch to flock or opera.

    Mike,

On a Mac and my web browing is limited at best, by choice. What happened to me happened with both Safari (which I hardly use) and Firefox. Happened once and hasn't happened since.

Even a direct link I had my friend send me did the same thing a Google webpage with a bunch of links to SM and other photo sites, no I didn't click on any of the links. I would close down that page and be left with a bunch of pop ups. All other website I go to worked fine.

Same things been happening here every few days or so. At first it was any
Dgrin or Smug link would bring up re-directed page with ad links and a small
pop up. Once hit preview on a message response in Dgrin and got it. Lately it's
been only on any Smug link though. Has not happened on any other site.

    Karen,
Everyday at between 5 and 7:30Pm my anti-virus / anti-adware-spyware software (AVAST) goes into warp drive and i am constantly telling it to quarantine that stuff every few minutes..sometimes it comes ever few seconds....one on top the other....I shut if off one day last week and to see the effects and I got GOT...and was redirected everywhere but here...reloaded AVAST and let it clean my machine and decided it was doing its job.....best free ware I have ever had on my computer.

    Karen,

If this happened to you around the time you made this post... the same hapened to me at the same time... I believe it was some sort of malicious hijacking software... I use AVAST like Art (great software) anyway don't know the reason I was hijacked for a while... All I know is that when something like this happens I immediatly sever my connection to the web and re-boot my computer and run a scan for spyware and viruses... A good firewall and anti-virus / anti-adware-spyware software is a must!

If this happens to anyone, please record the time and post back here. If it is
being caused by something out there it would be nice to know if it's at a
    common time.
