wow. what is the smooth spot near the sun but lower? is this part of a golf course?

Trudy, it's not a golf course, as this was taken out in the desert. It's ground that the sun was illuminating, I think, although it looks a little featureless for that, and this was minimally processed. It's conceivable that it's a flare. Whatever it is, it's welcome in the image.
