Four from Feather River Country

New guy here, second post. Didn't get run outa town with the first, so I thought I'd post some pictures for a little feedback. My goal is to become a better photographer. It was a passion in the 80s (35mm color and B&W), but many other things, both good and bad, got in the way for a number of years. I just started getting more passionate about it and am enjoying the learning process and believing I might have an eye. With your help, maybe I can develop a talent.

These were all taken in the real Northern California - Plumas County - sometimes referred to as Feather River Country. All were taken with a Nikon D5300 and one of 2 lenses, a Nikkor 16.0-85.0 mm f/3.5-5.6 or a 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.5-5.6. I use Lightroom for post processing and Corel Paintshop Pro X6 to add a watermark, resizing and saving to JPG.

*Sorry, images removed.*

Thanks,

Jim

Fantastic stuff Jim! Very well done! #1 and #3 are my favorites!thumb.gifthumb
Maybe for #3, blue can be desaturated a bit. Cheers!

Thanks for the quick reply, Stum... Do they call you Stum for short? mwink.gif

Yeah, I see what you mean. That is a little TOO blue, isn't it.

Hey, I'm headed down to your area in a couple of days. Wave at the guy on a Segway. Oh wait, LOTS of Segs down there. Well, wave anyway. :D

Like #1. The leading lines of the fence and the composition is well done.

    Welcome Jim,

I like #1 and #3, but I do find the overall color to be off. Do you have a calibrated monitor?

When you get to San Jose let me know, maybe we can have a mini meet up.

Thanks Joel, looking forward to sharing more. DGrin seems like a very friendly place to spend time.

Sorry, boco, I don't speak Dutch and Google doesn't translate some of what you said very well. Glad you commented though.

No, Sam, I don't have a calibrated monitor. It wasn't until just recently that I decided to jump in the deep end of photography again. I am in the process of building a new PC that will handle these really large RAW files, process faster with Lightroom, maybe try Photoshop. I realize a much better monitor is going to be important after that. This is one helluva expensive hobby. :uhoh

A mini meet-up sounds good. I'm a regular coffee kinda guy. You?

A great set of images. All have merit, but I really like the compositional structure of the first image with the green bush with fruit or berries in the lower left and the fence leading into the middle section and the taller trees bringing us to the sky. Very nice
