More sunset fun, Laguna Beach

So after going back and sifting through a beautiful sunset last month in Laguna Beach, I thought I'd give this photo a second look and was pretty stoked about the end result. Even if I did manage to nearly get swept into the water, and in the process, drop my corded remote timer into the ocean. D'oh!

Wonderful. Great image. A splendid example of how a watermark can really ruin a spectacular photo.

Cheers,
David

Meh, dont like the watermarks David, then dont bother posting. If you had images stolen or copyrighted work taken from you in the past, maybe you'd take the necessary steps.
But this always falls on deaf ears with you doesnt it? Oh well, c'est la vie. Cheers thumb.gif

Here's what PezPix said to me in a PM.

Thanks for the comment, and thanks for the interest in watermarking David. I've forwarded your comment to Andy for you since this is your seemingly millionth warning. Have fun getting banned. Cheers! <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif" border="0" alt="" >

Now I find my comment to be quite accurate for what I see. I assume that you are looking for a comment by posting.
So I commented.
It is a wonderful image. One that should make any photographer proud of their work.
It is a great image in technical, componsitional, color and aesthetic properties...with one caveat.

The watermark trashes the overall look and feel of the image IN MY OPINION.

You don't like my opinion so much that you felt you needed to point out to Andy. Fine. you are in my "Whiny baby" list. fell better now? :-)

Don't put up great images and ruin them with a watermark and I won't comment on how much better it would have been to see your great image without the obnoxious (IMHO) watermark you used.

Cheers,
David

Blah blah blah David, you have a history of pulling these types of moronic comments and have been warned plenty of times in the past. If you are going to make comments about photos, tread lightly given your past record.

I don't know if you are truly that type of a person David, that you feel the need to give out criticism in a negative mannor the way you do, but it truly does grate on others here in the community when it comes to the constant blabbering about others watermarks. We get it, you do not like them. Get over it please.

Anyway, thanks for the comment, and in the future, try to abstain yourself from watermark comments. Oh and you are right, I did forward your post to the Admins. Because you have had a history of this and have been warned ample times before.

(Schmoo, can you go ahead and delete these comments for me? Thanks) thumb.gif

Oh.. Pardon me.
Allow me to take back the moronic part about the spectacular image.

Do I dare say that the image with the bottom watermark shaved off with the rest of the picture still makes for a picture that is easily used by copyright infringers?

I get stuff ripped off on a daily basis. As I find them on myspace/facebook/personal website I ask for credits. If it is a serious commercial violation then I get an attorney on consignment. I make more friends that way!

I completely agree on those two notes but " I can't help but to think that they'd be nicer with a less conspicuous watermark".

Hmmm...I wonder who Andy should be talking to here...
A personal attack on a fellow Smuggy... Hmmm

Still. A photo with nice color and composition.

Nice. thumb.gif I like the soft water via your slow shutter speed, and I'm guessing a graduated filter?

I undeleted the posts that got the poster banned, since the poster decided to tweet about it and we got queries at our help desk. It's just easier to leave it open.

Here's the tweet: http://twitter.com/David_Weaver/status/1051837119

To the poster: SmugMug didn't censor or ban you - the volunteer moderators of Dgrin did, due to the repeated comments about the watemarks. You've been asked in the past to kindly desist from doing so.

We'll leave this open. And if you wish, post away on Dgrin on anything but user's watermarks - because, well, it's not productive. You've made your point.

I have also unbanned you for the time being to see if there can be some civility resuming here. I sure hope so :)

To ALL: Let's focus on the great photography here!

Very nice shot with great looking sky.
I think lightening up the rocks in the middle of the image will give more detail for the viewer's eyes to wonder around in this image.
