Very nice, Ian. It was heavily overcast here along the western horizon, so I am pleased to see your capture.

What body/lens was this captured with?

Cool beans, Ian. Glad it didn't hide the huge sunspot. All too cloudy here today.

Thanks for all the kind comments!

These events are pretty fun to experience, like the Venus transit. I am lucky in that UC's Lick Observatory is local and they have some cool stuff to look at as well has hints on "how" to capture stuff. If you haven't been and are in the San Jose area, it's worth it to take a tour of the place.

Ian, that shot is good enough to add to the Spaceweather Eclipse Gallery deal.gif

There you go! Ian, you are making me feel more guilty now for never having uploaded my full Blood Moon sequence from back in April. Should'a, would'a, could'a. :cry

I have no idea. You can find them at Orion over on Deanza and Bollinger'ish. Or telescope.com.

Mylar is the cheapest solution but glass is way better. H-Alpha filters let you view in greater detail but that comes at a really high cost :yikes If you're interested in those, I'll let you Google them lol3.gif

Images like this seem so simple, yet we all know it not only requires the gear but the planning, effort and prep work in order to get a great image like this.

Great image. Did anyone else think "Pacman" or am I dating myself?

Great shot, Ian! Pre-eclipse, I was amazed when I looked up and saw the Jupiter-sized sunspots. At UCLA, we have a scope with an H-Alpha filter, and the prominences were terrific.
