This is about the time of year when Elephant Seals congregate on beaches in Central California to molt, mate, birth, spar, hang-out with friends, etc... these images are from last year.
Nice set. I like several of them but my favorite is #2. Looks like it's smiling.

Very nice shots here. The #2 and last one is the ones that standout here nicely for me. I would love to be able to photograph them one day, they sure have a cute factor about them.

Yeah, there is something endearing about these critters - sea lions too.... I've thought about it before, and I think we like their faces because they resemble canines, with their snouts, whiskers and smiles...
If you ever travel out to the central coast of California, it is definitely worth a visit to this area to see/photograph these animals during the period of weeks they are beached.
Vehicle and foot access to view this rookery is actually very close and easy, although I tried to imply otherwise in my images. There is lots of other cool stuff in the region to see also - Hearst Castle etc..
