This is Felicia, a Maltese-mix dog,who was found as a stray on the streets of a Southern California City. She was starving and had been literally covered with embeded foxtails. She was lethagic but, luckily could eat. We, as American Maltese Rescue, were called in by the shelter and asked if we could help Felicia recover.

We began by feeding her five high protein and high calorie meals each day and supplemented the food with canine vitamins. She had several trips to the vet to surgically remove many of the embeded foxtails which festered. After several months, we deemed her healthy enough to be adopted into a furever home. She was still quite thin and her coat was still short. However, her new mom promised to take good care of Felicia. That promise was kept. Here is a recent picture of Felicia with her forever mom who has done a wonderful job taking care of this darling dog.
