Custom password pages

Hi all. After much debate and hesitation I just rolled out the "new look". One thing that I need to resolve is this.

I have an 18+ gallery that I used to, in the legacy smugmug, password protect by putting a disclaimer i.e bla bla I'm 18 yes yes yes" into the password hint and description field. The disclaimer was then displayed above the password box instructing the user to type I Agree in the box.

With the new SmugMug if I put the disclaimer in the password hint field it requires the user to click on the "?" to see the instructions. I understand how to customize the global password page mydomain.com/password but I don't want the 18+ disclaimer to appear on all password protected galleries, only this one or maybe more in the future.

Is there a way to do that?

We generally don't accept nudity in galleries that are publicly available. An exception can usually be made if the nudity (no pornographic content) is in an unlisted gallery and protected by a password.

From what I understand, your gallery is publicly available as giving the password away in the password hint means anyone (including children) could access the gallery. If that's the case, please change the gallery to unlisted and set a password that is not given away in the gallery title or password hint.

If I misunderstood your situation, perhaps you could include a link to your site with a few details, so the customization helpers could take a closer look?

There will be no pornographic material. Only artistic nudes. I was not aware of any such rules against nudity in galleries.
From what I can find in section 7 item I reads

"User Content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, sexually suggestive, hateful, harassing, threatening, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory, fraudulent or otherwise objectionable or harmful, including without limitation: Photos, Videos or other User Content containing nudity that would be unacceptable in a public museum where minors visit;" Which I've already stated that will be the case. "Artistic Nudes" Yes I know that's subjective but that's how the ULA reads.

The purpose of my disclaimer is to protect the gallery and force people to say I AGREE I'm Over 18 and that this material will not offend them.

I think that's pretty clear and would be legally binding in any sane court. If I misunderstood or missed something in the Smu8gMug Terms and Conditions for a commercial account please direct me to the part forbidding artistic nudity.

I suppose the gallery could be changed to unlisted if that's what the rules require but that would very much defeat the purpose.
Having said that, don't worry because there are no images in the gallery at this time, as I wanted to get these details worked out first as I fully understand the situation.

Please advise me of my options.

It's in the last part of the paragraph you quote from the terms. The line between art and pornographic is pretty subjective and everyone has a different threshold.

Having someone enter I AGREE is not an acceptable means as the gallery may be accessed by minors and they'd not be stopped by such a prompt.

Art nudes, what some refer to as 'glamour shots,' and 'boudoir photography' are permissible to display privately, and order/sell prints of as well. Galleries must be unlisted and password protected - and please stay out of the Grey areas. As long as we don't receive any complaints, there shouldn't be any issues.

OK, Fair enough. However, my question still stands. Can I make a custom password page for just one galley.

I'll work directly with SmugMug on the details of allowed and not allowed but basically I'm referring to images that fall directly under your descriptions.

In my opinion, there should be no subjective or grey areas in a contract or terms and conditions statement. Either you allow something or you don't. Nudity is a very subjective topic to begin with so it really needs to be more clear.

If a minor reads that and still says I Agree and I Swear I'm over 18 then they're misrepresenting themselves. That shouldn't be able to fall on the content provider. That's where parenting comes in.

Having said all of that I understand everyone's position on the matter

I checked with one of our Customization Heroes and he says it's not possible to customize the password page for specific galleries. It's just one password page for your entire site with no way of telling apart for which gallery it was pulled up for.
