Cyndi executing her view of Sonic the Hedgehog from the Sega Game. To me she looks WAY better than either Mario Brother. LOL

Good costume and poses by Cyndi. I think the execution of the theme is off. This lends itself to a fantasy shoot but the lighting and backgrounds just don't mesh with the theme.

+1. I think it would have helped to shoot at a different location, and wider for context.

    Thanks guys.

Trooper, if you search Google Images, the Sonic game was castles and woods. I think this was pretty close.

Jon, I'd be curious to know how you would have lit this set. As I said, the backgrounds are correct.

I would have underexposed backgrounds so they do not dominate like they do and then lit her like I was in a studio giving it a surreal/fantasy feel. I probably would have masked her off and then play with the clarity and contrast sliders to give a HDR like look to the backgrounds which would give it a video game look. This looks like a senior portrait session that doesn't mesh with a fantasy/game concept. Or just shot against a white screen, maybe using colored gels on the background to give some color.

That is a good job , we have a girl on TV callled Mega Mendy and she looks just like this. The ring is the only thing that I find a bit to artificial…. This would work with a real fluo ring and flash.

    Besides that a great series

Thanks again Jon for the details on your lighting ideas. I'll take a look in PP at what they look like.

D3 you are probably correct on the ring. Cindy created a ring out of wood (shown below) but I felt it was too static and lifeless to reflect the images I saw in researching the game. What I did was the best I could think of but there may be better ideas out there.

Yes, it adds a video game feel to the pic. Just for me the natural backgrounds take me out of the concept. Stylizing the backgrounds adds the fantasy element. This is also a concept I think would lend itself to shooting at night where you could light the backgrounds and Cyndi.

While I like three and six as they pertain to the concept, there just seems to be something missing (with those and the others) to "sell" the whole thing. I wish I could tell you what exactly it was, but alas, I can't.

(still waiting for those images in the "other" forum you promised two or three weeks ago!)

not sure where to go with that Bryce.

As for that promise elsewhere, refresh my old memory and let's see what I should have done.

I believe he was referring to your comment in another thread that you were going to post some pics in the "Go Figure" forum. I've been waiting for them too!

Before I forget. I have 2 small nits. #3 you have some streaks in the front of her where they should only be behind her if your using them to show motion. And in #6 you have a blurred background, but the grass she is standing on is in sharp focus. That should be blurred as well if you are showing motion. ;-)

OK, I didn't remember who I was talking about so I gave GO FIGURE all three "nude" shoots I've done this year.

Me either. I'm at a loss on how to explain what I mean. I can't put my finger on the "something" I think these need.

Playing around with Sonic Cyndi trying to get more of a video game feel. Curious what you all think of this slightly cartoon treatment.

I like it. This is also a case where I think a bolder background would be better instead of softening it up. Increasing contrast and clarity instead of sharpness would give it more of a video game look.
