organizing a model shoot

Being a amature photographer, knowing a bunch of photographers and models (all kinds of great looking people with character), I was thinking about organizing a shoot where models and photogs come together. It would be mutually beneficial where both models and photogs can get portfolio building shots and develop relationships for working together going forward.

Is that a good idea or am I off my rocker?

If I were to organize something here in the south Fl. area, Miami or Ft Lauderdale, would anyone here be interested in participating as a photog... or model?
