Can we have a Panorama viewer or 100% preview?

I would like my clients to either be able to scroll around in a full resolution panorama, or to be able to right click and have an option to preview the square around that point at 100%. Either a 100% preview magnifier similar to FAA or a way to allow viewing of the entire image with a technology similar to Gigapan.

Wonderful suggestion, especially as cameras (and Google) make it easier to create this. A number of other users would like this feature and they're voting for it on our Feature Request page. Let us know how badly you guys want this feature here: http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/353170

    Or maybe here: http://feedback.smugmug.com/forums/17723-smugmug/suggestions/2221454-size-option-for-panoramas
As it often the case for the Features Request Page, there are multiple requests -- overlapping but not quite identical -- dealing with a given issue area.

I was reminded today by the return of this older DGrin thread that the carousel content block can serve as a sort-of panorama viewer. Insert a carousel content block, load one picture you are interested in, set content aware height to off, and adjust the other settings to taste.

It's not perfect for this application. It's a stand-alone single picture display rather than something integrated into the other elements of a gallery display. The height settings aren't optimal. The 100% height setting does not count the horizontal scroll bar so you can't get a full screen height image plus the scrollbar. Either you have to scroll down and chop off the top 21 pixels (or whatever) to use the horizontal scroll bar, rely on the side arrows to navigate, or reduce to 66% height. And you have to manually align the picture to the screen.

I'll admit I've not gone live with a panorama like this, preferring instead to build little panning videos out of the pano pictures. But here is an example on an unlisted test page. It has a 66% and a 100% pano.

Since this is the feature request forum, it might be nice to have some carousel height choices between 66% and 100% (and, for that matter, to have those percents include the horizontal scroll bar). Still, for my own applications, I'll probably stick with the videos.
