Was fortunate to link a few weeks off together recently and get a real holiday half way around the world. My wife and I set off to explore Sri Lanka to see what kind of adventures we could find.

My wife as seen through the tuk tuk mirror, we had a fun time riding around in these crazy things and their equally at times crazy drivers. From slipping around on rainy mountain roads in the Buddhist town of Kandy to dodging trucks in the capital it was an adventure in itself at times.

Lots of crows at the train station leaving Kandy, felt out numbered and was glad they weren't willing give chase.

You can't go to Sri Lanka and not ride the trains around. We tried each class from first to third and enjoyed the cheaper rides much more so than the aircon first class trains.

A brooding Ella gap, had a lovely stay in the town Ella with lots of hiking and some great curry.

The locals like the train too!

Walking the tracks, this tunnel was full of bats which was a little creepy but fun. Just glad they didn't poo on us!

Little guy reminded me of myself growing up, though I was fortunate to have better access to tools and working conditions. Loved the resilience, happiness and ingenuity of the locals.
