Canon 24-105 or Sigma 24-105?

Question for my Dgrin Peeps - which one would you choose? I own the Canon 17-40 f/4 so the 24-105 would complement it for travel. Price may not be the deciding factor here......

    I've never used the Sigma, and I've only had the Canon for a few weeks - I got it when I got a 5D3 - but so far I love it. Sharp, outstanding image quality.

    Theoretically the L glass has some weather sealing, but I am not aware that the Sigma does.

    I have no dog in this fight as I use the EOS 24-105 and have for years, and I bought the Sigma Art 24-105, recently, for my wife. We will be testing them both in cold, rainy weather in a few months, so I will know a bit more then.

    Optically, both seem fine. I have lots of 24x30 size prints from my EOS 24-105, and from the brief time I was allowed to use the Sigma, it seems equally as good.

    I will be interested to hear others reports about this issue as well.

    The Sigma is significantly cheaper, but does take larger filters - 82mm, which matches the filter size for Canon 16-35 f2.8 L II wide angle lens, which is convenient.

    Yes both lenses are very good and close in real world shooting, with the Canon having slightly better corner sharpness, while the Sigma has slightly better center sharpness, wide open. The Canon can be bought for as little as $600, while the Sigma is still around $750, both used prices. FM has lots of sellers offering the Canon between $600 and $675...
