Opinions on the NEX line?

I'm looking at picking up a NEX-7 as a throw it in the car/backpack and go kind of thing. But it seems like it's probably due for an upgrade soon? The NEX-6 also has some features I'd really appreciate like the Wifi, but it doesn't have the control system from the 7 which I really like, since it was very close to a traditional DSLR.

Any thoughts on these?

My wife has the NEX 6. I find myself using it more than I ever imagined! It is a very capable camera and I think it would definitely fit your needs.

It's possible that the Sony NEX line has reached the End-Of-Life (EOL). The Sony A3000 appears to be the first successor to the NEX line. As such, the form factor will persist and the "alpha", "E-mount", lens mount will persist but branch from the Sony (ILCE) A3000 and Sony (ILCE) A5000 going forward.

Consider the Olympus om-d cameras
I recently moved to Olympus. Image quality is excellent and the lenses are much smaller than NEX lenses. Research will confirm my advice.
