Yosemite Mist

With all the rain we have been getting in California the past few weeks (hopefully to help bring about an end to our drought :clap), it brings to mind a day in May of 2009 during a particularly wet year. I did my monthly trip into Yosemite to find some interesting views and photo ops. It was a lovely wet day with a booming Merced River and beautiful fog and mist hanging out in the valley.

I don't post a lot of photos in the Shots section because I am usually intimidated by the likes of the photographers and artists present here :bow. But my nostalgia got the better of me. :wink

#1 - On the way into the park, the Merced River was booming - haven't seen this in a few years!

Holy moly! Let me be the first one to say these are awesome! It looks like you did a little bit of post processing in the first....HDR? but I think it works. I especially like 2,3 and 4.
I would encourage you to post more often!

Thanks AnnaMaria. #1 is not HDR - adjusted exposure a bit, sharpened and desaturated - and then used a little Photoshop Oil Paint filter on it. It was a sad day when Adobe dropped the Oil Paint filter in Photoshop CC :pissed

Wow Jo! This is awesome stuff! All superb but #2-#4 make me wish I had shot those! Always dream of finding those conditions and you did and captured the dreaminess and mystery that mist creates!

Thank you all so much for your kind words and encouragement. We've moved further away from Yosemite, so I don't get there as often as I used to. You really can't go wrong in Yosemite - the ultimate photo op!

I misnamed two of the photos in this series. #3 and #4 are not from Yosemite Meadow, but rather Ahwahnee Meadow.

No reason for you to be intimidated--these are terrific images! I do hope you post more for us. My favorite is #3. I like the minimalist look of the scene with just enough rock and trees to show the setting. Nice job!

I have never been to Yosemite. I so enjoy looking at the wonderful images made by photographers who show us something different like you did here. It is nice to see things other than the travel brochure shots of Half Dome.
